I won't be doing that again. I wanted something simple to check codes for my 3 cars. This works like a charm, I verified an existing code that I had to take to the dealer and spend $49 for. The instructions are simple, and I do recommend reading them before hooking up.I may only use a few times a year but it is worth it. I will even venture out to do repair myself and save $300.If you are a novice and want simplicity, this is the way to go.
Quality with this brand. Such as code continue to show after part replacement. Wish it can be helpful with repairs. A basic guide to other problems related to codes. If you already know the problem, no need for the code reader. For future issues, code reader is useful.
I got a P0420 which indicates something amiss with the Catalyst system. I anticipated receiving this item in the mail with the free shipping. Using the device, I erased the error and if it appears again, I know that the recent recall work didn't do what it was supposed to. Finally, the day came where I got the package. I literally ran to my vehicle to see what the error was that triggered my CEL. This saved me the time of going to the dealership just to have them charge $80 to turn off the CEL. Highly recommended.
I bought this device to reset my "check engine" light which comes on in error. Although the device has a clear operation, it did not clear the light. I called customer support and they said the problem was in the car's computer - oh well
I recently purchased this item and it has already paid for it's self. For any do it yourself type person, this is a must have. The mechanics around here want to charge $80 just to read the code. With this, just plug it in, wait about 15 seconds, then look up the error.
